L1 Burst Fracture Pictures CAT SCAN

AGAIN all is well. Nights are brutal! At the moment I am not taking anything for the discomfort. The days are just great I wish they never ended. Here are some images of my spine. Dr. Blair has really put my mind at ease that I will be just fine in 12 weeks. I can walk and that makes all the difference in the world. 30 days ago I was racing at Cyclocross nationals.... that is hard to believe. Enjoy the pictures I wish they were of me doing something cool and not hurt.

Sam! Wow, I feel so bad for you. Get well soon, and heal fast. Your blogs have inspired me to do my own little bit of blogging.

You look good in the brace I must say. Best of luck getting healed. I am sure I will be seeing you drop me later this summer in the 1/2's

Sam, I am glad you are OK. Get well soon so I can come to Utaidaho and get schooled by you in cross next year. I have a friend who did something similar a while back. She is 1" shorter than she used to be, but otherwise A-ok.

It's good to see that your mutant genes help with healing, too. Get in touch whenever you have the time.

All my best to you and Karen.

Hi Sam,

We're twins! I just fractured my L1 Vertabrae on April 12, 2008. I'm a skate pairs (on the ice) and my partner and I feel out of an over-head back press, and I landed in a sitting position form about 8'high.

Pieces came off of my L1, too, but mine was a little further away from the spinal column then yours. My brace is open and I'm in it for 6 weeks, then 6 more weeks of PT.

Are you enjoying the Percoset?! If you want to compare notes, feel free to contact me:

I had the same fracture from a 45 foot fall so I hope all is going well. I finally had to have my back fused.

So glad this blog is here, I now have joined the club of L1 burst fracture survivors! Roller Skating took me to my butt too fast, burst the L1. I'm still nervous and do not like this clam shell brace. But at least we don't have to live in plaster right?

a week I was in a bad car accident,we still don't exactlt know what happened,i was on my way to work,on interstate rd,icrossed the median and both south bound lanes of traffic without hitting any cars, down a steep bank and hit a tree. I had to be cut out of my car,and spent 3 days in the trauma center. I have a burst L1,I am in a Jewitt brace, with numermous burns from the air bags and numerous extensive bruising,I have no numbness or paralyzation, but am Happy to be alive! Dr said I'm a miracle, and I certainl thanks God for His Angels. Anyone know how long it will be until I can return to wifely duties without further injury to my spine?
